« on: October 01, 2008, 10:24:41 PM »
...if you got 'em...post 'em!!!

lang, deano dynosoars, skat trak, race trim, empi, treuhaft, santana, berg, claudes buggies, eelco, etc...

but they must be from your own personal stash and not just some pics you found on the net. if you have an interesting story on how/where/from whom you found the parts...let's hear it!!!

i'll start...

full size lang pulley i found on ebay years ago...

it's a shame you had to get rid of it...but sometimes you have to liquidate!

here's some more crap from my stash...

the piece that started it all...santana power pulley given to me by my good friend and ex-acvw wizard tod mcconkey (he's the guy that got me into old school acvw speed parts)...

beat up santana power pulley found cheap at a puyallup swap meet...

nos empi roller pedal found on ebay...

skat trak ida manifolds mildy ported by clyde berg and purchased from art guitterez (dkp)...

old copper hurst shifter w/ t-handle bought from local asf member mike scott...

nos treuhaft oil filter adapter found on ebay...

dual carb intake manifolds for a s/p engine...not really super old school or rare, but i havent seen many with the cross/equalizer bar still intact...

i'm really hoping some other people have some stuff that they can post pics of. more than anything, i just like to look at these old parts and learn more about their history and the stories of how they were found!!  8)

I hate to burst your bubble, Silas.  That is considered contemporary EMPI junk.

back in toronto i had heard about an empi engine kicking around, history goes it was built in riverside and shipped to the empi dealer in ontario, it was put into a dune buggy and old guys remember that thing would go around pulling wheelies all over the place, anyways i spent about 4 years trying to find this engine came close got to the guys door only to be told f**k off its never for sale... never even got to see it, but to those who wait...

another one i was at the michgan vintage meet saw a guy with a rail i think had a 010 deano linkage a few other old stuff, anyways digging through the boxes came up with deano manifolds, oil pump cover and one other thing i thought was neat, ohhh yeah og moon black ida covers! got that all for about 50 bucks, pays to be an early swap meeter haha

Nice work Geoff! I asked Gary at breakfast a while ago if he had any of his old speed parts kicking around and he said that you had managed to grab the rest of it. lol

Thats some wicked stuff there and cool history.

okay silas i give up, scored this little gem at the gcvws, well not me my buddy vwboop found it before i had even got my coffee that morning, but he understands my obsession with this junk and forwared it onto me! its a 71 deano parts list with og price sheet and order form, take a peek at the ida and 010 prices! and the other is some wild welded and ported and cut heads, the runner shape of the manifold looks like my old deano ones i use to have so i figure they are late 70's 80's done they are really cut into sadly no maker names scribed in, have fun ill keep em comming!

I dont have much of a stash but I do have one thing that mostly qualifies.

They sure look like standard 311 type 1 rods, but dont let looks decieve you. As far as I know these are from a vintage type 4 oettinger/okrasa engine. The big end width is the same as the 66mm stroke type 4 cranks, and they have been polished and shot peened, but otherwise appear to be genuine VW forgings... From what I have gleaned from reading, Oettinger used them on 74mm type 4 stroker cranks. I am using them in an 1834 T4; 66x94.

Aside from that I do not know alot; the guy I bought them from seemed to think they were a different alloy than standard T1 rods, but I am thinking maybe they just look that way due to the shotpeening?
If anyone could confirm/add to any of the above that would be great, as said I really do not know alot about them.

Thanks Geoff,

They are marked 311B, on the caps. Is cro-mo what "regular" rods are made out of?
