15x7 phone dials on a bug?
« on: November 15, 2009, 05:15:28 PM »
So I have a set of 15x7 phone dials, with a 23 offset.  The car is a 66 bug on a 68 irs/bj pan.  Will a 2" narrowed beam, re-drilled rotors be enough to get the phone dials under the front fenders?  Or if I found 2 15x6 with 23 offset would they work with the stock beam?  In the rear will I be able to use adaptors or will I have to get re-drilled drums.  Thanks for the help, Jeff

With a 2" beam, you need the 6" wheels, depending on what tires you want to use. ??

For the rears, get some 68+ up rear drums and redrill them for P pattern and stud them.  Better yet, get some Type 3 drums.  The 7s will fit with early short axles with ease.

Cool, so the rear go for re drilled drums.

In the front, would I even need a 2" narrowed beam with 6x15 with a 52mm offset?  If I bought a set of 6x15 with the 52mm offset could I get away with only buying the re-drilled disks?  Am i right in thinking that the 52mm offset will sit 25mm closer to the car/beam/inside than the 23mm offset?  I'm trying to figure this offset stuff out, Thanks for the help, jeff

Is the ET of your wheels 52mm or 23mm?
What tires are you planning to use?

The wheels i have now are 23mm, but if I'm going to buy 6x15s then i want to buy wheels that have the best offset for me.  I was thinking of running 195/50 up front.

If you use the 6s with ET23, you will need to chop the beam more than 2".

If you use the 6s with ET52, not only will you not need a narrowed beam, you will likely need a wheel spacer!  I think 3/8" may do the trick.  A set of dropped spindles may be necessary too.
