What Would You Do With A 84mm

So lets say you had a 84mm crank and rods.  What combo would you use for street and the rare run on the track....
Lets hear idea's right down to bearing preferences and head-carb combo!

I know a few locals that have very nice 2332s that see the street/track with consisitant 12's and an 11

If it's going to be mostly street use with a little track time consider 90.5 P&C with 8-8.5;1 comp a Engle 120 or better a K8 with 1.4;1 rockers.  If you want more power go 94mm and 9.-9.2;1comp and the k8 or web 86b (same profile).
Heads will make a world of difference so buy a nice set (ported by Darren)

I agree with Geoff, but go 94mm not 90.5 (will cool just as well and give you more hp for no more expense) and run low compression (8-8.5) with a mild cam.

Very cool info! Thanks guys.  I decided to use the 84 crank in a 1200 case to save room with a engle 100 and my own gears out of bakalite with quad 30 picts!! And a dual point coversion from a chevy!

Just out of curiousity, how much estimated hp would the 84mmX94mm, W120, 044's w/ light P&P, 8.5-1 cr, 44idf's and a 1 5/8 exhaust make?
Would there be a better cam choice for a purely street driven bug?  This car won't see a drag strip and it will likely be driven on the highway for a couple of hours at a time.  I'm thinking really big stock motor here.  Thanks.

Would it not make more sense to just maintain a good 1600 and get a decent tranny?

Come on man.  You can only drive a 1600 for so many years.  I'm tired of building 1600's!!!!!  Have you ever droned across the prairies in a 1600 bug?  Damn, sooner or later you're going to want to pass somebody, keep up the traffic on highway 2 etc...  I want to build a very well mannered, stout engine that I can still use my stock gearbox with.

Tranny wont last long thou. super diff heavy side covers and super mainshaft. seams to be the was to go! and a 3:88 ring and pinion for that long road your on!
