AHHHHH for F#$% sakes!
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:20:41 AM »
Just went over the notch for a trip to Oosoyoos yesterday and found that the front wheel cylinders are leaking!!!

I am a little torn as to what to do. I have bought the motor parts from Matt to build a 2275 this off season so the power next year is obviously going to be a little more.

My question is: If I go 4 wheel disc brakes, will I notice a considerable difference in braking power? Is it worth the time and energy or should I just talk to Geoff and let him bend me over the barrel (*snicker*) for a new set of cylinders and shoes.

Not dvkk but its probably cheaper to buy disc brakes then your listed alternative. Dics brakes are a definite improvement.

It's not that easy, you have wide 5 and to run disc's it gets expensive! It's not like beetle brakes as those are common. The T3's use a different spindle...and early 61-63 are different again. I beleive CSP makes some brakes for it.....bend over!! ;D

Ps. I have the cylinders in stock, lol ;D

Ok but will the disc brakes be something I am going to have to do anyways? I just don't know if stock brakes are going to cut it for the 2275 or not.

The HP doesn't dictate on the size or type of brakes you need. It's how heavy the car is and how hard you drive it  ;)

Roger that!

Thats the shits about the brakes man. the other option would be replace the front beam with that of a later model type 3 with factory disc brakes....please retain all the stock parts so I can buy them for the blue 63....

And make the car look like bunk!

T3 drum brakes are good brakes when all parts are new and in good working order. Wide 5 discs would be best but not needed.....puting a T1 beam in that car would be my last....very last choice.
