I am looking at a 65 beetle and wanted to here it from you all as to what specific things I have to watch for. I had a super before and it fell apart. This one claims to be 95% rust free.
Your help is appreciated.

Always check the heater channels, inside the front wheel wells (near the door pillar), bumper mounts, aprons, rear quarter panels (in front of the rear fender). The drive train doesn't really matter since all of that can be replaced easily. Just make sure you take a magnet to the car and check all the problem area for bondo and fiberglass.

also:
look for cracked window seals and around windows for rust, check the carpets and floors for any dampness and water, make sure all of the window seal up etc..
A WATER TIGHT CAR IS WHAT YOU WANT!

Are there multiple locations on the 65 beetle for serial numbers? I want to make sure everything is kosher before I buy this beetle!

Tunnel under the rear seat and in the luggage compartment up front behind the spare tire.

aircooled angel is probably wondering why you want to know the numbers for the car? usually people don't care unless you are going to keep it 100% original and want a perfect numbers matching car.

yeah i figured that, I have actually purchased the car. Thanks everyone for all the pointers and such :)

Actually I read the first post about \"specifics\" wrong. I thought you wanted to know specifics about a 65 and I was going to say I have an all original 65 if you wanted some pics for reference etc.

oh cool, thanks for the offer. :)
