Quality Of New Doorbrakes/check Straps
« on: February 04, 2007, 11:51:19 AM »
Hey guys,
Just curious as to what the quality of these parts are like? I know in other automotive circles there is a serious lack there of quality door brakes.. Which usually end up breaking and being in the bottom of the door. So whats the verdict?
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

First off, it might help to know which ones you are looking at, ie: which supplier/brand and where are you geting them from? Second, Beetle doors don't weigh much so unless the door is rotted out where the checkrod attaches there is no reason for them to break. If you are slamming your beetle doors hard enough to break the check rod my suggestion would be to buy yourself a Cadillac. The other option would be to buy the strap style meant for one piece windows.

I'm looking at ones from CIP.
I haven't personally broken a doorbrake however my beetle has the damage from a broken one...
