Wtb - 60-64 Convertible Ghia.
« on: January 06, 2006, 12:21:03 PM »
I know this is pretty specific - but if anyone has any leads on early convertibles (anywhere) please drop me a PM.

thesamba.com is visited everyday by me too.

I'm looking to tap into a local (or vancouver, anywhere in BC / canada) knowledge base for vw enthusiasts.

Any leads - good or bad - please let me know.  Cash waiting for the right one.

I've posted on vwdov.ca and vvwc.ca

Thanks.

There are lot's of early vert ghia's on samba. If you want one so bad just get it shipped from cali. At least it will be rust free!

My old 64 Ghia convert is still around locally.  I sold it to Brian Cook.  He did a bunch of work to it then sold it to another guy that did a bunch of work to it.  That guy sold it to a guy named Edsel who I believe may work at the Telus phone store in Metrotown.  That's all the info I have on the guy, you'll have to go there and ask for a guy by that name if you want to find this car.
When I had the car, it was registered in my name in BC, so there's no border/inspection BS with this car.

Brian, I'd like to clarify something.
That wasn't a rust bucket I sold you, that was a rust bucket you bought from me.

There's lots of new metal in that car now.

found it in the states.  nightmare to bring it up (not really a nightmare - but a massive headache)

it's a 1960 vert.  has a few problem areas / bondo in places - but overall it's in amazing shape.

pan is in fantastic shape

body resto started, but then it sat for years and years.  it's disassembled currently.

here are a few pictures...

Congrats on your project Paul. I went down to California about a year ago with a few friends and one of them bought a ghia vert as well.

holy crap you guys are a friendly bunch

i did an inventory last night on the parts i need for thebody and it's going to add up, but i'd like to do it all at once.

I'm in the process of finding a local (ish) bodyman who has ghia references.  I'm not good at welding and i'll need these parts welded on.

this is what i am thinking: http://www.airriders.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.p...ight=ghia+paint

I'd ideally like someone on the island.  bc ferries is killing me.  friggin $89 each way (truck / trailer).  plus rental of truck/trailer.

Do you guys know of anyone who does quality vw work on the island?  perferably on ghias?
