Title: Mounting 3pts - rollbar
Post by: piercedvw on September 08, 2010, 09:33:59 AM
Has anyone seen good ideas as to how to mount the top of a 3 pt seatbelt to a rollbar?
So far my options seem to be drill right through the bar and bolt it straight in.. But it's not going to look right.. Maybe a circle clamp of some type with a flange to bolt into??

The best way would be to weld a tab on the rollbar at the appropriate height.  A quick search of the Samba found the following thread:

There are two examples with comments if you scroll down.  If you do a search on the posters of the two illustrations, you can see actual examples in the picture gallery.

CIP1 or any chassis shop has the tabs or I'm sure someone on here has a couple of extras kicking around.

FYI.

I just made two little 1/4" (thick) tabs and welded them at the height I wanted...
