Difference Between 53-57 Ovals
« on: April 22, 2004, 04:53:03 PM »
Does anyone know the absolute difference between these Ovals visually? I was told that the only way was to look at the front heater vents, if they are by the firewall, then they are 53, near the doors, they are 56-57?? Is this correct?

53-55 Non Euro have Semaphores.  :)

Hard to tell visually between ovals really.  Older ones have hearts/egg shell taillights.

Like Russ said, Look at the doors, are they the ribbed kind? door catches are also different, heater knob is by the ebrake on early cars and infront of it on later ones.

'56 and earlier have heater outlets near to the front of the footwell, '57 they moved closer to the door.  This is the easiest way to tell the difference between a '56 and '57 (bullet signal lights) other than the serial number.
