Checked Crappy Tire, but nothing more than a 10mm. Anyone seen some in their travels? Princess maybe? Don't want a Snap on Quality for the few times I'll use it.

Try Lordco. Their Jet brand is decent stuff and resonably priced.

Ever think of double nutting a 17mm bolt. Worked for me for years. Finally broke down and bought one from CIP1.

I picked up the 1/2" drive set on a nice metal holder from Princess auto a few years ago, nice to have the other sizes for door strikers, CV's, etc..., haven't broken them yet.

It's not a socket, just like an allen wrench but 17mm in size. No Lordco, NS parts has a listing, but no stock. None of the hardware locals have anything that large. It's actually this one at CIP, but I wanted one I could yank on with a car if needed.

the one in the link that chris posted is the better of the 2, imho. 17mm allen head with a 3/8 drive so you can fit it on a rachet & extension. makes it easier to get to the trans fill plug just above the frame horn too! unless you need it for a different application...?

AVR would have been choice one if I was heading that way, but ended getting a decent set from Princess for $24.95 instead of the single for the same price. I don't expect to be putting them to too much use so the cheapy versions will be fine. thanks again for the info.

Ok, I was an (rhymes with shm-idiot) and assumed that my tranny had the 17mm hex needed, when in the end.... I don't have those sort of plugs! Got a nice set of hex sockets if anyone needs to borrow some ;)
