Title: Vw Potential 1966
Post by: egspot on March 06, 2006, 08:50:30 AM
Got a purchase in progress. I need some feedback.

The heating channels have original paint  with very small surface rust in spots. The floors looks solid but has surface rust inside. Front is lowered. The main body has less rust than my current one.

What u guys think, What would it be woth a roller like that? ballpark

I figure I can clean up the whole floor interior and exterior, give it a good prime and tar coating. new brake line and blakes and pop my engine on it.

Emilio, I would agree with Shane - if you are going to spend that sort of money, you would be better off finding someone who has already spent some $$$ upfront and is looking to move away from that vehicle. This car looks like it will need some significant rust removal/restoration even before you consider the interior, which itself will cost some more $$$ to get to a level of comfort for your commutes.

Good luck with your search.

Due to labor (anticipated) situation comming up I could not do this right now and I won't know untill month end. You seem to have a good standing with fellow vw owners and I know this is probably the best deal.

Just curious, What kind of trany, and What, how do the papers come to play i.e. 68 on 60 with 72 papers?

Steveo_32..wrote...\"As long as the tags match the paperwork your golden\"

The tag would be the one in the spare tire compartment for early, and the drive dash corner for laters?

Does that tag has to match the number under the back seat?

I wouldn't give 500 for it unless the drive train was perfect. Then I'd throw away the rest of the rusty hulk. I know your winters are waaaaay worse than ours on cars, but I'd get the best car I could find, even if it meant looking south of the border.

just my USD .02

Hi Tom,
I don't think Vancouver winters are any harsher than Seattle winters. The problem in Vancouver,
and the rest of the province, is that as soon as there is a hint of ice, or snow, salt is poured all over the roads.
Salt is incredibly damaging to cars and roadways. But our city governments do it anyways.

egspot,
Tom makes a good point. You may have better luck finding a rust free / less rusty car in Washington State.

Yeah Cam, to me that makes your winters worse in my book. Just looking at the total problem, not seperating the two.
