IRS on a 1964 Microbus
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:03:36 PM »
Looking for quotes to convert my 1964 Microbus to IRS. I would do it myself, but I don't have a shop.

The bus has drop spindles, and the rear has been lowered one spline to match. I would like to keep the rear end lowered and get rid of the RGB's.

Teh current motor is a stock 1600SP, and it has what I believe is the original transmission.

Please PM me if are able to do the work and are able to give me a quote.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks, Bruce. I would like to hear from others as well. Btw: I'm in South Surrey.

No problem. Its a straight forward install , there are just a lot of parts that are needed for the swap

Yeah, from what I've read the most desirable brakes are off a Type 3 but the backing plates are hard to find? Everything else is fairly easily attainable, I think?
BTW: I want to keep the bus Wide 5

I realise there is a wide range of costs for parts, so if any quotes can be for the labour portion I'd appreciate it.

Thx,
Mark

Yes type three are the way to go but putting the irs kit and type three brakes push the wheels out so i would have to know what wheels youd be running. I have a complete set of type three brakes i could sell you for the conversion. Ill pm you a quote for labour costs
