King/link Pin Beam Clearance

I just installed an adjustable king/link pin beam in my 63 beetle.  The car has CB drop spindles and 5.5 or 6 inch chromies with 185/55/15 tires up front( they fit BEAUTIFULLY on the wheels).  The problem I'm having, is that the driver's side wheel sits between 3/4 and 1 inch OUTSIDE the fender.  The passenger side fits just inside the fender.

Is this a wheel/tire problem or something else?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and thanks!
