Paper Gaskets?
« on: December 07, 2016, 09:43:14 PM »

I need to make paper gaskets and glue them on either side of phenolic spacer (i.e. the 1/4 inch rubber spacer that goes between the carb and intake manifold). I will need to make 4 for my dual carb 1.7L bus motor.

Any one know where I can purchase such gasket paper?

Thanks.

Great Thanks!

My next question is: What is the best glue to use that will allow the paper gasket stick to the rubber spacer and withstand heat and gas?

Thanks.

T4's came with phenolic spacers on the intake/head gaskets.  Do you have that one?  It's included in the gasket kit.

if you are jammed - i can look in my stash - i probably have a pair i could give you.

The spacers between the manifolds and heads are only for FI, for carbs you want the thin aluminum gaskets to transfer as much heat as possible to the manifolds.

Friendly Local Auto Parts Store, although some of the unfriendly ones may carry it as well ;)

So just to clarify for my stock dual solex carbs. I should only be using the thin aluminum gasket (which I have) with no glue required.

Thanks.

Thin metal gaskets between the heads and manifolds, phenolic spacers and paper gaskets under the carbs. No glue against any metal parts but glue the paper to the phenolic if you like.
