Title: Later Style Wiper Switch In Earlier Car?
Post by: horizontallyopposed on April 15, 2004, 08:39:58 PM
In my 66, the wiper switch I pulled out of my parts car is the 141 955 517A switch which is from a 68-71 Beetle.  It has a few more prongs than the earlier switch, and the terminal numbers are all different.  Can anyone give me a hand here to make my 6 prong plug work like the 4 prong original?

The termnial #s are:
30 (power from fuse)
31
31b
53
53a
53b

I looked at the wiring diagram for a 68 on vintagebus.com but it's not a lot of help, except that I don't think terminal 31 does anything.  31b is the only terminal with the same numbers between the newer and older switch.

Maybe I'll dig in boxes at the Edmonton swap meet and see if I can't just find the right stupid switch!  :mullet:

You need the proper one for yours eh Keith?  Well I just happen to have a parts 66, and I just might happen to be in Edmonchuck that weekend for the meet. Let me know if you want it.

Yeah Trev if you've got one that would be great.  The knob is pretty disintegrated on the one I have anyways.  I'm stopping at Krispy Kreme on the way to Edmonton - you want anything?   :P
