I have been pumping the GCVWS weekend up pretty hard on KCW and have a convoy of those boys committing to the 2000km road trip from Colorado! Hope to bring some fresh rides out this year including a Barndoor Kombi and an ex Royal Mail swivel seat kombi both originally from Canada.
Let's hear what's in the works boys I'm stoked!!!!!

Yes, those are the dates.
Cool, Thanks Geoff!

I would like a re match with any strictly German club member at the race track. I'm willing to put up a burger as a wager. No traitor queens.
-
Any info beyond the date ? Is there a host hotel arrangement this year? I almost didn't get a room last year
Thanks!

GCVWS.COM 2015 webpage is updated....

Excellent..Excellent!
-
Only two weeks to prep those VW's!

And two weeks today to all the Great Canadian Weekends Saturday various clubs events...

Looks like the host hotel is out of rooms. Can't see any other hotels nearby on Google maps, etc. Where are others staying? Anyone camping?
-
I know a few are camping at the hotel and surrounding areas ( a few parks and parking lots within a block or two) many more hotels on Capilano road if you google that.

hey neil, i haven't stayed at either of these places but i had called to inquire for some other folks. both locations are close to the host hotel & show...a little pricey tho...

or like geoff said...some folks are camping at the hotel or close by or if you have a camper van or tent you could try this place...(looks like 15a part hook up sites are still available)...

-
Thanks, I might check out that Capilano RV Park:)
-
For Islanders headed over, is there a route maybe you could draw out for us. No Hwy#1 (because 36hp), no raised castings (because cartoon low), no road construction etc.
-
horseshoe bay or tssawwassen arrival?
-
***edit***
important...
depending on what time of day you click the links below, google maps may automatically adjust the route to compensate for rush hour traffic, accidents, detours, etc...
the best viewing time to get an idea of the suggested directions is in the evening after 8pm...
***end of edit***
suggested directions to the show on sunday...
all routes should be a relatively straight shot to the show location, ok for lowered vehicles and rigs towing trailers...
- from the tswasssen ferry terminal (pls note...do not miss the exit to vancouver/hwy 99)

- from the horseshoe bay ferry terminal (2 routes...through stanley park & downtown or bypass downtown and go over the iron workers memorial bridge...either route on a sunday morning should be ok...)

https://goo.gl/maps/mAald
- from the border (truck crossing)...
https://goo.gl/maps/E6kAg
- from the host hotel...

yup, lots of pics on fb, i've got a busy 2 weeks ahead of me but i'll try & get mine posted on the asf site asap!
what a weekend...getting a chance to see friends old & new and all the people involved really make it so special!
so many highlights to list but a few include jim running 10's all night at mission, the great hospitality from the folks at regency vw on saturday & the sgvwa breaky, the thunderbugs reunion was incredible (so great to see that crew all together in one place), a packed vintage speed & collectables event, fun times hanging at the pub sharing laughs and watching the gassers movie...and the show on sunday, BAM! that location is so nice in so many ways, the cars (kevin kriegers, josh's oval, that oregon 21 window, that buggy bruce mc built...so many hot rides from near & far), the vvwc valve cover race track, meeting john jones & his daughter from kcw in colorado...the whole show...wicked!!
special note...to everyone that participated in the all vw cruise from regency to the host hotel on saturday afternoon...THANK YOU!! traffic got nasty, it was hot, and you all handled an unfortunate situation in a calm and cool manner. you're all awesome!! also thanks to thomas for taking the lead and keeping us all on track and to andy from the sgvwa and scott for helping with the cruise!

Thanks everyone. I will look forward to pics in the future then because I just can't bring myself to get involved with FB. [blink]Congratulations[/blink] on what sounds like a well run, fun event. I wasn't there in person because of a number of factors, but a part of me was in the form of the 79 Sage Green Westy I spent all winter working on. It showed well and even brought home a First in Class from what I understand. Wish I had been there to see it :artist:
-
she was a beauty Don. Excellent work and well deserved.
